Life is paradoxical; and, contradiction is the spice of life. That’s why it is so charming and so beautiful. It exists through the opposites. It is quite interesting to know what eastern mysticism speaks about God experience, where it has been one of the most cherished old traditions not to say much about mysticism or about God experience. As Siddhas say, “The one who has seen God, has no words to explain his God, experience; The one who explains so well has never seen God.” This is the contradiction in life and in relation to the ultimate realities of life. This is where we feel the importance of meditation.

“The one who has seen God, has no words to explain his God, experience; The one who explains so well has never seen God.”

By Siddhas

The mystics live in timelessness. They don’t leave any marks in time. They don’t leave any signatures on time. They don’t believe in signing on the sand of time. They know it will be effaced, so there is no point in it.

Only in meditation that we realize that the whole humanity is ours, the whole evolution of human consciousness is ours. Outside meditation we feel that we are so miserly and impoverished. It is this meditation that creates a desire in how to flower and become a god. This makes us more loving, more alert and aware.

It is not a question of learning much. On the contrary, it is a question of unlearning much. For instance, we belive deepdown in the heart that real happiness is impossible.

You are not body, you are not mind, you are not thoughts, you are just consciousness which feels and witnesses everything as you play your part in life.

A famous psychiatrist conducting a university course in psychopathology was asked by a student, “Doctor, you have told us about the abnormal person and his behavior, but what about the normal person?”

The doctor was a little puzzled, and then he said, “In my whole life I have never come across a normal person. But if we ever find him, we will cure him!” And these are the two possibilities: whenever enlightenment happens, either a person becomes absolutely silent or he bursts into song.

In reality you are just “consciousness.” You are not body, you are not mind, you are not thoughts, you are just consciousness which feels and witnesses everything as you play your part in life. This consciousness by its very nature is peaceful, calm and rejuvenating. and Meditation is a process to know this consciousness within you.

Meditation does not mean just sitting quietly for five or ten minutes. It requires conscious effort.

Meditation and concentration are the way to a life of serenity. Concentrate on your consciousness and find out what it is. You may be surprised at what you find. What it brings before our eyes is beyond any reasoning.

Alan Watts said, “We could say that meditation doesn’t have a reason or doesn’t have a purpose. In this respect it’s unlike almost all other things we do except perhaps making music and dancing. When we make music, we don’t do it in order to reach a certain point, such as the end of the composition. If that were the purpose of music then obviously the fastest players would be the best. Also, when we are dancing we are not aiming to arrive at a particular place on the floor as in a journey. When we dance, the journey itself is the point, as when we play music, the playing itself is the point. And exactly the same thing is true in meditation.”

Meditation does not mean just sitting quietly for five or ten minutes. It requires conscious effort. The mind has to be made calm and quiet. At the same time, it has to be vigilant so as not to allow any distracting thoughts or desires to enter. When we can make the mind calm and quiet, we will feel that a new creation is dawning inside us. When the mind is vacant and tranquil and our whole existence becomes an empty vessel, our inner being can invoke infinite peace, light and bliss to enter into the vessel and fill it. This is meditation.

“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless – like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

By Bruce lee

That is why Bruce Lee said, “Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless – like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

When we meditate, we try to expand ourselves, like a bird spreading its wings. We try to expand our finite consciousness and enter into the Universal Consciousness where there is no fear, jealousy or doubt but only joy, peace and divine power.

When we are in meditation, we want only to commune with God. When we know how to meditate well, we will be able to commune with God, for meditation is the language we use to speak with God. As a result of His meditative consciousness, Jesus could say: “I and my Father are One.” That will be the greatest surprise for those of us who can enter into meditation.
